Hello! I’m Mandy, and I am so glad you stopped by!
I’ve been sewing and dreaming up projects for almost as long as I can remember. As a child, I thought I was just the coolest when I made a witch costume for one of my dolls – a witch costume that was black with neon green exposed stitching and intentionally ragged seams and hems. Yep. That was a Mandy classic right there.
I like to think I’ve come a long way since then, but part of that little girl is always with me…especially when it comes to my fabric choices. “Yes,” she says, “you absolutely need to make a coat out of bright yellow plaid!” Who am I to disagree with my nine-year-old self?
I learned to sew from my mom, who to this day is the most talented and creative person I know. I’ve never seen anyone whip up a crazy elaborate Halloween costume or a stage full of musical costumes quite like her! I love pushing my self creatively and learning new skills, and my mom gave me the perfect foundation for both.
My style is (mostly) classic silhouettes, mixed with bright colors and prints. I’m not a fan of anything too fussy, I’ve never met a polka dot I didn’t like and I firmly believe there is no such thing as too much fabric – anyone who says otherwise can’t be trusted.
I started this blog to share my projects and the bits of wisdom I’ve picked up along the way – always with a healthy dose of humor. So far, it has been an amazing journey, and I’m so happy to be a part of the online sewing community. I hope I can inspire others along their sewing journeys as much as I am inspired by fellow sewers and creators.
When I’m not sewing, I’m usually writing, reading or watching Murder, She Wrote. I live in Pittsburgh with my boyfriend (and photographer) Tim and our two pet rats, Marty and Ton.
I want to take a moment to thank my incredibly talented brother, Justin, for my awesome logo….thanks, Justin!
Happy Sewing, Everyone!
